Workshop on Ethical Hacking Ethical Hacking workshop has been conducted at our center on Sunday. Our Faculty V.Vidhya gave a demo class about ethical hacking and the scope of ethical hackers in industries. Also students got a chance to try the code and check for the outcome.

Survey says Python is top programming language

Image
It's been said that programming languages are akin to religion. Engineers and developers will go out of their way to defend the use of their favorite language. (Perhaps it's more the pain of learning a new language that keeps us using the old). Surely you've seen many surveys on programming language preferences. As with all surveys, the results depend on who was asked. IEEE recently surveyed its members, asking which languages they use. Given that IEEE represents electrical engineers, we naturally expect the results to differ from surveys taken in the software community. To EEs, software is usually a tool to make hardware work as opposed to being the product itself.  Source: IEEE. IEEE has published its 2018 list of top programming languages. Python came out on top overall. Other surveys showed different results. IEEE's survey results highlight four use categories: web, mobile, enterprise, and embedded. You can view the results for any combination of the four th

Domain specialization of Analytics platforms:  The next-generation of Analytics will rely heavily on domain specialization, thus delivering solutions for target industry sectors.  Data Science is Changing and Data Scientists will Need to Change Too – Here’s Why and How  from Data Science Central describes Advanced Analytics platforms with access to third-party GIS and consumer data. The current market trends in Business Analytics indicate that the platform strategy will soon shift from being a “one-stop, general purpose” platform to a domain-specific solution geared to industry sectors such as e - commerce, finance, HR, manufacturing and so on. Source: Google Images Automation of Analytics processes:  More than 40 percent of Data Science tasks will become automated by 2020. Significant Analytics processes like Data Preparation or Data Modeling will become automated in most cases. Automation tools like SPSS and Xpanse Analytics are already in wide use. The learning algorit

T-Mobile is on a trucking road trip with IoT and 5G technologies

Image
T-Mobile is embarking on a road trip in a ‘Tech Truck’ packed with IoT and 5G technologies in order to build hype about their possibilities. The semi-truck features T-Mobile’s signature magenta and will be touring all over the country for a year to show the network is on the cutting-edge of innovations. It was built in the company’s national technology lab based in Bellevue it calls ‘Launch Pad’ where engineers work on the next-generation of wireless technologies. Many of these developments will now be hitting the road. Image Source: Giphy John Legere, CEO of T-Mobile, said: “The T-Mobile Launch Pad lab is the heart of our network innovation and cutting-edge technology. It’s where our engineers design America’s fastest 4G LTE network, disrupt the industry, and continue to help architect the future of wireless. 5G is becoming a reality in this building, and everyone’s invited to witness it and to see the future for themselves!” Demonstrations will be provided

New Open Source Tool Developed to Detect Twitter Botnets

Security experts from Duo Security have developed some open source tools with accompanied documentation that discusses the techniques used to identify large botnets. The experts have developed these tools after analysing 88 million Twitter accounts and more than half-a-billion tweets. The company has constructed the dataset using Twitter’s API. Duo Security has also collected the user’s profile name, follower count, avatar, bio, the contents of the tweets and social network connections. The most conventional way of utilizing data science techniques require the developers to create a classifier that will classify Twitter accounts that are automated by the bots. Researchers have identified the accounts based on factors such as the number of digits, Entropy, followers/following ratio, number of tweets and likes for that tweets. The tools developed by the researchers can be used to investigate fraudulent activities that occur on the Twitter. The tools can also be used to monitor the evo

Reddit Hacked – Emails, Passwords, Private Messages Stolen

This time the victim is Reddit... seems someone is really pissed off with Reddit's account ban policy or bias moderators. Reddit social media network today announced that it suffered a security breach in June that exposed some of its users' data, including their current email addresses and an old 2007 database backup containing usernames and hashed passwords. According to Reddit, the unknown hacker(s) managed to gain read-only access to some of its systems that contained its users' backup data, source code, internal logs, and other files. In a post published to the platform Wednesday, Reddit Chief Technology Officer Christopher Slowe admitted that the hack was a serious one, but assured its users that the hackers did not gain access to Reddit systems. "[The attackers] were not able to alter Reddit information, and we have taken steps since the event to further lock down and rotate all production secrets and API keys, and to enhance our logging a
